With loss of workers due to attrition and an expected rise in local construction projects, a need to actively recruit young workers to the Construction Industry is foreseen. With this goal in mind, the AGC of Ohio, AGC West Central Ohio Division and six other regional organizations of AGC, and OCA joined forces to develop a new workforce development outreach and recruitment tool – BUILDOHIO.Org.
BUILDOHIO is a website focused on making young people, educators, and parents aware of viable career opportunities in the Construction Industry. The highlights of the website include:
- Providing information on career opportunities, including skilled trade options through apprenticeship training and professional tracks, i.e. architects, engineers, and construction managers following college graduation;
- Listing education facilities, including: apprenticeship training programs, career centers, and 2 and 4 Year Colleges/Universities offering career pathways to enable a successful transition into the workforce;
- Highlighting individuals who have found career fulfillment with various positions in the Construction Industry; and
- Displaying average wage and benefit information.
